Master Mark P. Fancher
Master Mark P. Fancher is a seventh dan (degree) black belt who has been certified as a master instructor by the International Martial Arts Association (IMA). Master Fancher's training began in Cherry Hill, New Jersey at Yi's Martial Arts Institute, which is owned and operated by Grandmaster Ki Yun Yi, President of the IMA. While a student of Grandmaster Yi, Master Fancher participated as both a competitor and judge in a variety of tournaments. He also assisted with clinics, demonstrations and other special events. Master Fancher has received several special service awards from the IMA, and he has served on panels of examiners for students seeking belt promotions.
In 1996 Master Fancher relocated to Michigan. He instituted a special martial arts program for low income children served by the Peace Neighborhood Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He later conducted classes through the Ann Arbor Board of Recreation and Education. He conducted the "Little Grasshoppers Karate" program for four and five-year-olds who attended the Bright Horizons daycare center. He launched the Moo Duk Martial Arts Institute in 2006 along with Mr. Philip Ray, a certified black belt instructor.
Master Fancher ran the Detroit Marathon in 2009. He is also a student of the history of martial arts whose articles have been published in Black Belt and Tae Kwon Do Times Magazines. Master Fancher is an attorney by profession and he is employed by the Racial Justice Project of the ACLU of Michigan.
