Sparring Pads to be Required

Beginning October 1, all students who spar during class will be required to wear protective pads. Due largely to our "no contact" policy and the responsible approach to sparring taken by members of all ages, we have never had a significant injury in class. Even so, protective pads will increase the safety of sparring drills and students will benefit from having the chance to practice free fighting under tournament conditions. Sparring rules in tournaments vary but are often specified to be  "light contact" or "controlled contact", with protective pads required.

Some students already have pads. Those who don’t can order them through the club for $90. A set includes a vinyl padded helmet, gloves and boots. If you choose to order, please contact Master Fancher and be sure to inform him of the shoe size of the student.
