Master Mark P. Fancher
Master Mark P. Fancher is a fifth dan (degree) black belt who has been certified as a master instructor by the International Martial Arts Association (IMA). He has trained in Tang Soo Do for nearly 26 years, and he has served as a black belt instructor for more than 23 of his years in the martial arts. In that time, he has taught hundreds of children and adults.

Master Fancher's training began in Cherry Hill, New Jersey at Yi's Martial Arts Institute, which is owned and operated by Grandmaster Ki Yun Yi, President of the IMA. While a student of Grandmaster Yi, Master Fancher participated as both a competitor and judge in a variety of tournaments. He also assisted with clinics, demonstrations and other special events. Master Fancher has received several special service awards from the IMA, and he has served on panels of examiners for students seeking belt promotions.

In 1996 Master Fancher relocated to Michigan. He instituted a special martial arts program for low income children served by the Peace Neighborhood Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He later conducted classes through the Ann Arbor Board of Recreation and Education. He conducted the "Little Grasshoppers Karate" program for four and five-year-olds who attended the Bright Horizons daycare center. He launched the Moo Duk Martial Arts Institute in 2006 along with Mr. Philip Ray, a certified black belt instructor.

Master Fancher ran the Detroit Marathon in 2009. He is also a student of the history of martial arts whose articles have been published in Black Belt and Tae Kwon Do Times Magazines. Master Fancher is an attorney by profession and he is employed by the Racial Justice Project of the ACLU of Michigan.

Mr. Philip Ray earned his second dan black belt in 2008, in the International Martial Arts Association (IMA). Mr. Ray began his training in Tang Soo Do at Southern Connecticut State University and continued training with Master Mark Fancher after relocating to Michigan. Mr. Ray also trains in Heo Jeon Moo Sool / Hapkido, a self-defense art emphasizing circular motions; in May 2010 he earned his second dan black belt in this art.

Mr. Ray is certified in CPR and first aid for children and adults, and in 2006 completed the expert children's martial arts instructor course offered by Schuman Concepts.
